Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

How does Track-A-Bracket work?

Track-A-Bracket allows users to create "pools" and "brackets" for the NCAA® men's college basketball championships. We take care of scoring and ranking these brackets based on the rules you specify.

Is this site really free?

Yes! While we may add additional paid features in the future such as advanced admin options and custom branding, the basic Track-A-Bracket site will always be free for everyone.

Pools

What is a "pool"?

A pool defines a group of users who are competing against each other for the highest score. A pool also defines the scoring rules that are used to determine how each bracket is scored, as well as the entry criteria for joining the pool.

Can I create my own pool?

Yes! Creating a pool is also completely free and you can create as many as you'd like.

Who is the pool owner or pool admin?

The person who creates the pool becomes the administrator of that pool and is responsible for setting the scoring rules and approving who can join the pool.

Can I create pools that require an entry fee in order to join?

Track-A-Bracket does not directly support requiring that users pay a fee to join your pool. The pool admin can use the "per bracket" approval policy to approve only users who have paid an entry fee. Track-A-Bracket is for entertainment purposes only and does not support illegal gambling.

Can I change the scoring rules after I've already created my pool?

Yes, you can continue to change the rules of your pool until the tournament starts. No changes can be made to the scoring rules once the tournament starts.

Can users join my pool after the tournament starts?

No. All users must join your pool before the start of the tournament. However, if there are brackets which have joined your pool but which have not been approved, these can continue to be approved or rejected until a week after the tournament starts.

Can I add users to my pool who have not created an account on Track-A-Bracket.com?

Yes, the pool admin is not restricted by the usual bracket and user limits set on a pool and can enter any number of brackets in the pool for other users.

Can others see my pool?

Information about a pool and the users who have joined it is available only to those who have joined and been approved. If someone tries to access your pool without first joining, they will be denied. Track-A-Bracket.com does not currently offer any way to make pools "public"

Brackets

What is a "bracket"?

A bracket represents all the picks that a certain player has made in guessing the outcome of all 63 games in the NCAA® tournament.

Can I enter a bracket into more than one pool?

Yes! This feature is what sets Track-A-Bracket apart from other similar sites. If you belong to one pool at work, another pool for your online friends, and you've created your own pool for your family, you can enter a single bracket into all three pools.

Can I enter multiple brackets into the same pool?

It depends. The pool owner specifies how many brackets each player is allowed to enter. Each user can enter up to the maximum number of brackets into the same pool.

Can I see the brackets that other players filled out?

Only after the tournament starts. We do not allow players to see each others' brackets until they are "locked in" at the start of the tournament.

NCAA® Tournament

When does the NCAA® tournament start this year?

The first round is played on Thursday, March 20 2008. All bracket picks must be entered by 11:55 AM EST on that day.

When will team names be available?

Team names are available on "Selection Sunday", Sunday, March 16 2008. Players can begin to make bracket picks ahead of time based only on seeds since the seed positions are always the same.

Is this an official NCAA® site?

No. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association in any way.
